The One Bride Guide Cover Shoot – V19I2
Corpus Christi, TX

Our summer cover came together ages ago when Deux Bohème and our team noticed the building of a new lighthouse. Our covers sometimes feel like uncovering a fairytale, and a perk in working with Leslie Castro is her passion for painting the whole picture in storyboard form long before we get to the shoot. Every time, we get our fairytale ending.
We were excited to work with one of our favorite developers for the second time: Frazier Companies. They hosted us for an Indian-themed cover at The Chamberlain in 2023 (V16I2), also with Deux Bohème and Wild Veggie Bouquet. We are grateful for Frazier Companies’ creative developments, revitalization work, and continued investment in Corpus Christi. Fun fact: Frazier Companies now owns both the oldest lighthouse (on top of The Chamberlain at The Beacon) and the newest lighthouse in Corpus Christi!
The Harbor at Lighthouse Pointe is a Croatian-inspired chapel and event center overlooking Nueces Bay. The Mediterranean-style stonework feels old-world and fits beautifully in the quiet coastal setting.
The Harbor’s chapel is a true gem—the prettiest little chapel you ever did see! Seating up to 60, the pews were reclaimed and restored from an old church, adding warmth and charm to the new structure. A series of tall windows frames a round platform overlooking the calm bay water.
You enter the event center at the base of the lighthouse, which does have a light at the top, but its glow is for decoration and doesn’t direct ships. There is no public access to the top, but guests are wowed by the rotunda bar at the base of the lighthouse. It’s an awe-inspiring spot with a moody glow—best enjoyed with your signature drink on tap. The attached event center can host up to 125 and is thoughtfully designed with a catering prep area, plenty of open space, and a wall of arched windows overlooking the water.
During the open house, we learned that Maddie Schmitz and her Better Together Planning team partnered with The Harbor to manage the venue and provide high-touch coordination for every client. We love working with people we already trust!
It was at the open house where we met bridal stylist Ashley Frye. We recognized her business, Hair By Ashley Frye, from wedding spotlights and admired her work. She agreed to help us and brought along Maggie Manjarris of Maggie’s Beauty Bar to assist with makeup.
The Liliana Gown was chosen for our cover, part of the Oh My Dress Private Collection. Inspired by couture bridal artistry, the gown features a striking off-the-shoulder portrait neckline framed by voluminous tulle ruffles flowing into a layered tulle skirt with floral elements. Our bride wore The Soirée Couture gown by Oh My Dress for the outdoor and bar area photos. A strapless neckline, structured corset bodice with intricate lace and crystal beadwork, and a grand Mikado ballgown skirt gave us the regal, high-fashion look we were looking for.
The venue’s vintage feel paired perfectly with the pieces from A. Kenney Jewelry. Diamonds, pearls, and opals were added to our “wish list” from the heirloom jewelry we borrowed. Did you know you can create a wish list at A. Kenney of your favorite finds? It’s perfect for when your significant other needs gift ideas!
Our gorgeous model was Jazmine Miller. Originally from Robstown, Texas, Jazmine currently attends Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she studies psychology and competes as a sprinter for the Javelinas track team. She plans to pursue a master’s in psychology. We were lucky to catch her in the middle of a busy track schedule and she was a joy to work with.
Iuliia (Julia) Prokhorova of Wild Veggie Bouquet and her incredible floral designs were a priority focus for this shoot. We are honored to highlight her creativity through ambitious installations: one interior installation accentuating the chapel, one exterior installation highlighting the architecture, plus very special pieces for the bride’s hair, a ring, a bracelet, and a purse as an alternative to a traditional bouquet. All we can say is, “wow!” You can see a portfolio of Iuliia’s unique flower accessories from past shoots on pg 28.
Iuliia describes her vision for floral:
“For the outdoor installation, I wanted the florals to feel as if they were naturally growing through the architecture—soft, airy, and romantic with a South Texas garden sensibility. We used cascading garlands to create movement and soften the architecture with an organic garden feel.
The two installations were designed with layered hydrangea, delphinium, and Queen Anne’s lace. The pieces featured airy, textural flowers for a romantic, naturally growing effect in soft ivory, pale blue, blush, and faded green tones. I intentionally kept movement and negative space throughout the designs to create an ethereal rather than heavy, structured look. I loved how the delicate, hanging botanicals framed the entrance to the lighthouse, and the way the blue delphinium moved through the softer neutral palette, giving the entire editorial a fresh coastal touch.
One of my favorite details from this editorial was the custom vessels created specifically for the floral installations. We transformed metal urns using layered resin techniques to give them an aged marble-like finish with soft dimension and texture. I wanted the vessels to feel architectural and timeless—almost as if they belonged to the space itself rather than looking like standard event décor.
The custom finish added warmth and depth to the overall palette and complemented the airy garden florals beautifully, helping the entire editorial feel elevated and organic from every angle.
Instead of a traditional bouquet, we designed a few floral pieces that functioned like jewelry, along with a bridal purse. The floral structure attached the purse (later removed to serve as a bouquet), was created using individually wired blush hyacinth blossoms, carefully connected one by one to create a soft and delicate cascading form. The result felt ethereal and sculptural at the same time. I loved how the texture of the hyacinth blooms added a sense of softness and intimacy against the dramatic gowns and larger floral installations.”
Special Thanks:
Thank you to Brennan Wells, Wild Veggie Bouquet staff, and Joseph Swoboda for being our heavy lifters and extra hands on the shoot!
As always, the best part was collaborating and creating beautiful things with some of the top professionals in the wedding industry. The shoot was gorgeous in every way, and we are so thankful for everyone’s contribution.
