The Perfect Wedding Guest List

Wedding guest lists can be so hectic. They’re one of the hardest parts of planning a wedding because you would LOVE to invite everyone but sometimes the venue or the budget doesn’t allow for that. There’s also that problem of overbearing parents or in-laws that want to invite their 3rd cousin’s best friend’s gardener.

But don’t worry! We came up with two easy steps to start your guest list and trim it to perfection.

So be sure to sit down and relax. You definitely don’t want to start off an already stressful ordeal stressed out.

Step 1: The Ultimate List
Now come up with the ultimate list of everyone that you would absolutely love to invite and don’t worry about budget constraints or venue constraints.

Step 2: ABC’s
Now it’s time for the challenge. After you make your ultimate list, categorize everyone into either an A list, B List or C list. Ideally an A-list person would be family members and best friends. B-list would be work friends, acquaintances, distant family members. C-list can be anyone in between!

All the A-list guests will be automatically added to your wedding guest list. If you have room for the B-list then start adding those and IF you have enough room in your budget then you can add C-listers.

Important things to remember:

It’s your wedding! If in laws or parents want to invite people and the budget is already tight, have a conversation with them and make them understand that you only want people that matter on your wedding day. If that doesn’t help them maybe they’ll be able to pay for the extra guests that they want to invite.

Are you stuck figuring out whether or not you want someone at your wedding?
Two easy questions that you can ask yourself are:
Would I be offended if they didn’t invite me to their wedding?
& Have I hung out with them in the past year? If the answers to these questions are “no” then you shouldn’t worry yourself.

We hope this helped you start your wedding guest list. If you already made your wedding guest list, be sure to let us know if you used the same techniques and if you used some different ones, we’d love to know too!
