Photographers seem to be one in a million these days. There are too many fabulous photographers in South Texas to even begin picking “the best.” Each photographer has his or her own style of capturing a bride a groom’s special day. Some are traditional, others are more artsy. Some may edit pictures to give them a sharper edge; others, soft. What’s nice about this is that you can pick a photographer that understands your style as a couple and captures these characteristics the way you’d like to remember them.
One photographer I’d love to introduce you to is a young lady by the name of Jade Payne. Jade is a photographer from Corpus Christi and her business goes by the name of Journey Tree Studio. Jade has always been a dreamer and her pictures capture just this: dreams that come true. One of our favorite wedding blogs to read here at The One Bride Guide is Green Wedding Shoes. They have some of the absolute CUTEST ideas for DIY wedding projects! In November, this blog posted a genious DIY tip for those of you who love cupcakes (the newest trend in wedding cake!) and plan on serving these sweet delights at your wedding. Hosting a cupcake topping bar at your wedding is a fabulous way to let your guests customize their cupcake to their liking and to have fun while doing so. Almost every bride I’ve ever talked with has mentioned something about fitting into the perfect wedding dress, losing a certain amount of weight before her wedding, etc. All bridal magazines discuss this issue at one time or another and we at The One even have a column in our magazine titled “Fit Bride.” (Click here to read our most recent Fit Bride article!)
If you live in Corpus Christi or in the Corpus Christi area, I really encourage you to take advantage of our beautiful city when working out. The bay front is a beautiful place to work on your fitness. Whether you like to walk, jog, run, or roller blade, this is a great outdoor area to do whichever workout is your favorite. You can enjoy a beautiful view and even include your dog! If you are a student at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, you can now enjoy working out at the new Dugan Wellness Center. This facility offers group fitness classes, personal instructors, basketball courts, cardio equipment and weights. The Dugan Wellness Center is a huge asset to the university and its students! If you’re on a tight budget, the Corpus Christi YMCA offers a half-off discount towards the registration fee for those who print the online application papers and bring them in already filled out when becoming a member. For a very reasonable monthly fee, members can attend a long list of group classes, lift weights, utilize the treadmills, and swim as often as they’d like. Let’s go South Texas brides! We have a lot of really great options when it comes to working out so that we look our best in THE dress!

Save-the-dates are a really fun part of being engaged. A save-the-date announces to family and friends that you and your future husband have chosen your BIG day. Designing save-the-dates can also be really fun because couples can put a picture of themselves on their save-the-dates and create a save-the-date to fit their style as a couple. Magnet save-the-dates have been and still are a very popular way to announce your big day, but can cost anywhere between $1 and $3 per magnet, if you’re not careful. This fun website creates not only save-the dates, but also designs party invitations, stationery, and many other fun projects. Although you can find regular save-the-date cards and save-the-date magnets at Wedding Paper Divas, what I’d like to introduce you to are save-the-date postcards. These postcards can cost the same amount as regular save-the-date cards ($.84 to $1.04), but postcard stamps are not as expensive as the stamps you would put on an envelope. Last night I was reading through my Fall 2010 issue of Get Married. While reading, I ran across an advertisement for a unique way to have your wedding guests fill out a guestbook and just knew I had to share this with you all!

Being a bride-to-be, I read many wedding blogs on my downtime. Besides the booming do-it-yourself concept, another popular trend is using colored glass vases or jars to hold flower arrangements. From large extravagant pieces to the daintiest vase, colored glass seems to be everywhere!
