Honeymoon Safety and Savings
Planning your wedding is stressful enough, so we at The One Bride Guide want to take a little weight off your shoulders and help out with some important tips you will need for your honeymoon.
Location, Location, Location!
When you start planning your honeymoon the first thought is location! Yes, location is key however there is a lot more details then just “Oh we are going to Cabo”. The first thing we suggest is making sure the location you choose is SAFE and fun. The Department of State runs a website that lets you check if your honeymoon destination is in the safe zone. Which, we have provided for you here.
This website lets travelers know what locations are marked with Travel warnings and Travel Alerts. If a location is marked with Travel warnings this could be for government issues, civil wars, crime or frequent terrorist attacks. Travel Alerts are more short term and a location can be put on alert for reasons such as election season, health alerts, or even hurricane season. We aren’t trying to scare you, we promise! We just want to make sure you get home safe to celebrate with family and to lush over the great time you had.
How to Save
Another thing travelers need to put in consideration is cost. We know weddings can range over $10,000 so saving money is always a plus.
Websites such as Trivago and Expedia are always great, but we want to let you in on our vacation secret. There are days that are cheaper to fly and days that are cheaper to buy your airline tickets! You can thank us later and spend that extra cash on margaritas or a massage on the beach.
Now, let’s get down to the facts, the cheapest days to fly are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturday.
This gives you plenty of time to hang out with family that flew in to see you on your special day. Another way to save on airfare is to shop smart. FareCompare’s data shows that the best time to book your flight is on Tuesday at 3 p.m. eastern time. This is because many flights release all their sales on Tuesday, so you have a variety to choose from.
Inconvenience, can also save you a lot of money. Yes, you read that correctly inconvenience. Instead of choosing a flight that has non stops try and make sure you look at other options. It’s usually cheaper to connect flights. You can use that time to stretch your legs and enjoy a drink at the bar.
One more way we suggest on saving money is finding the right place to stay. In this case we do recommend those websites, that we had suggested earlier, such as Trivago and Expedia . Another option that has been trending among people is Airbnb. Instead of renting a room or a hotel you are able to rent actual homes. So you have the option of going the traditional route and renting a hotel or trying something new. Either way both ideas will keep your pocketbook happy.
We at The One Bride Guide hope that these tips keep you safe and help you financially too! We know honeymoons are important and can be hard to do after all those wedding fees, but we think every couple deserves that relaxation time. So have fun, take photos, drink margaritas and tag us in all those cute photos!
