Wedding Etiquette 101
When it comes down to it, there are probably endless tips and rules about how not to act at a wedding! We at the One Bride Guide have narrowed it down to 5 rules that should be easy to remember.
1. Know when to dress up or down: For a wedding you want to look nice and put together regardless if it’s on a beach or in a fancy art museum. So make sure you’re not wearing an old T-shirt or a dress that’s too provocative!
2. Don’t record or take pictures with your camera phone: This is very distracting and obviously rude especially if you’re in a church. Just remember to keep the camera phone pictures to a minimum during the ceremony. Taking pictures during the reception is perfectly acceptable!
3. Don’t ask to bring a plus 1 or your whole family: Obviously you can bring them if it is explicitly stated in the invitation but if it’s not don’t ask the bride or groom because it puts them in a sticky situation. They would love to invite everyone but sometimes the budget gets tight and inviting more people just needs more money.
4. Don’t wear white if you think the bride might get upset: A lot of people disregard this rule but some brides do get genuinely upset when they see someone wearing white to their wedding. After all, it is the bride’s day so please try and refrain from wearing white unless the Bride specifically stated that she does not care.
5. Have fun but not too much fun: When I say this, I mean don’t overdo the drinking. Of course a wedding is a celebration but you don’t want to drink too much and end up embarrassing yourself and the bride and groom. It would be horrible to cause a scene on what is supposed to be a joyous occasion!
