How they met:

Meg was driving home from work one day. She and Kacy locked eyes in her apartment complex garage! Kacy was at the complex to attend his private pilot classes. He waited for her at the elevator, and they hit it off instantly. The next day, Kacy called her to schedule a date- dinner and dancing. The rest is history!

The proposal:

Kacy took Meg (and their two dogs, Misty and Tulie) out on the boat to a private sand dune, where he prepared a lovely picnic for them to enjoy. Kacy tied the ring around Meg’s dog, Tulie’s neck so she could present it to Meg.

Favorite detail:

Bride: I loved that our ceremony was in our backyard, which felt extra special and meaningful. We believe this is our “forever home” so, being able to make these incredible memories here of our wedding day is truly a gift. I’ll never forget the way the yard looked all set up with chairs and lovely flowers! We also had a lot of fun with our getaway vehicle- transportation by boat, decorated with lights and a “JUST MARRIED” sign on the back!
Groom: The Backyard setting was very beautiful for us, and a venue we are able to revisit every time we walk out our back door. The entire wedding was simply harmonious, from the weather cooperating, to the dogs wearing their best dresses and participating in the wedding and the shared joy with all our guests. Everything flowed so naturally.

Favorite moment:

Bride: Walking down the aisle with my dad to “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri was extremely special. Kacy and I love that song, and it has many special meanings to us. It was also a song that my mom really loved. My mom, Beth Galindo Walzel, passed away in 2019, so it was like an extra nod to her presence still being here with us. I’ll never forget the excitement and overflowing joy I felt in our backyard, walking down the aisle to my incredible groom. Kacy shined with excitement too. It was a very beautiful moment that will live in my heart and mind forever. Another favorite detail- twice during our ceremony, our little dog Tulie made special appearances up front and center with us. She was wearing a little white dress that Kacy bought her. She stole the show! It was hilarious, charming, and cute. We say that she was saying her vows too, and giving us her blessing!
Groom: My favorite moment was standing proud and anticipating the moment my lovely Bride would be walking out the door. I also was anticipating this incredible dress from all the stories I was hearing about how Meg found “the dress”. First there was the change of music, and in rehearsing the ceremony processional just once, I knew the timing Meg would make her grand entrance! It was an unforgettable feeling that washed over me, So powerful and indescribable emotion. We wrote our own vows to one another and Meg is so eloquent and genuine with her thoughts, heart and words that is was just a pleasure to hear her speak from the heart to me like she always does. Also, I would have to agree that the timing was perfectly on cue with our dog Tulie approaching the altar when her name was called to partake in the ceremony, so very sweet and special for Meg and me……..and Tulie. Tulie has been extremely important in Meg’s life from supporting her, and providing unending love and affection to her family during difficult times. It couldn’t have been more perfect!

Biggest challenge

Bride: Predicting the weather! I was obsessed with looking at the forecast and just so hopeful that we would have beautiful weather to enjoy the outdoor wedding we wanted. Planning an outdoor wedding in January was risky, but we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. The very next day, a major freeze passed through. We were so happy and grateful to have been able to enjoy our wedding day with temperatures in the low 70s and pure sunshine! Somebody jokingly told us “How does it feel to be God’s favorite?!” I smiled. But inside I thought to myself “it’s not too bad!” Haha!
Groom: A challenge that comes to mind is a fun one, and that is choreographing our first dance. Picking the song was the first challenge, and Meg suggested Butterflies by Kacey Musgraves, a song that carried a special meaning for our relationship. The next challenge was choreographing some of our favorite dance moves into our song. We have a vacant building we are remodeling for our new business. After work I would go across the street, and play our song while practicing select moves to match the timing. Little by little each day I would come home with some new material, and Meg and I would practice each new section of our dance. Once we fine tuned our dance, we thought it would be wise to practice the dance in the actual setting of our reception. So several times we would find ourselves driving the boat over to the Waterline at Doc’s Seafood restaurant to go through our routine. A funny note about this challnge is upon chatting with the bartenders on the night of our reception, they informed us that they were there for our practice sessions and wondered what we were up to, and they now had their question answered.

Funniest or most embarrassing moment:

Bride: At the end of the night, we busted out some karaoke numbers. It was fun and spontaneous!
Groom: Everything went really smoothly, but one funny hiccup was despite several efforts from several different people, my boutonniere decidedd it liked best to hang upside down. It was pretty funny and added a little extra character to my suit. haha.

If you could do one thing over:

Bride: Everything from start to finish. Fortunately, we get to relive the day often with the beautiful photos and videos that we have.
Groom: The entire day was actually perfect, but if I had to select one thing to do over again it would be watching my beauitful bride walking down the isle, making me the luckiest man alive!

Advice for future brides and grooms:

Bride: We really liked the fact that we kept the guest list as tight as possible. It made for a very intimate celebration with those who mean the most to us. Also, I think it makes the ceremony extra meaningful if you write your own vows. This is the perfect opportunity to clearly express your feelings and intentions for your new marriage. This is very special to us!
Groom: This is your day to celebrate and honor eachother. Meg and I focused on one another and what concerns and desires we each had in mind for our celebration. This made for a thoughtful and meaningful experience that was special for us both. It turned out a lot of our interests overlapped with the other’s desires from a small intimate setting with a small guest list, and simplicity over all. We believe in all things if you thoughts and actions are in consideration of your loved one, you will never go wrong.

Why you got married and what marriage means to you:

Bride: We got married because the love that we share is a once in a lifetime love, and we fit together better than I’ve ever thought possible. We are so united, and share an extremely unique bond. Marriage means that you will always have somebody in your corner, and on your team. Marriage means sharing your life with somebody and becoming family together.
Groom: Meg’s heart and soul is so very special and we mirror one another just like we were made for eachother. Its an incredible connection and bond that we share, and I’m reminded of the saying “when you know, you know.” Marriage is a commitment to your partner, that you intend to be by their side, support them, and share a beautiful life together. Marriage signifies a strong family bond.

How to make your spouse happy:

Bride: Kacy loves thoughtful, meaningful notes, or when I do something silly to make him laugh. He also finds great joy in taking care of me! That is a win-win.
Groom: Probably the greatest way to bring happiness to Meg is to make her feel safe, valued and loved. Some of the ways I like to achieve these goals are to make life easier on her whether that is helping around the house more, preparing her breakfast for the work day, or being a safe place for her thoughts, feelings and concerns to unfold.

What you look forward to the most:

Bride: Sharing our lives with eachother, having endless adventures together, and someday having kids together. Kacy is the best man in the world, and every day with him is a gift.
Groom: I look forward to coming home every day to the most beautiful woman in the world, sharing and creating life together.

More advice for couples:

Bride: On your wedding day- make sure to do your best and try to slow down, really take it all in. Enjoy every minute and taking the advice my mom always gave me… Make a memory!
Groom: I feel its important to make your wedding day unique to yourselves. Make it your own and add your personal touch so that it feels like an extension of who you are as a couple..
