How we met:
We initially met when we were 2 and 4 years old as the flower girl and ring bearer at a wedding. We re-met in high school, my freshman year and Ethan’s sophomore year. We actually started dating for about a year as each other’s first boyfriend and girlfriend, but as most high school relationships go, we broke up and never spoke again. We graduated, went to college, and started our lives post-grad. It wasn’t until November 2023 when we randomly ran into each other in Corpus Christi, where we both were living and working. We caught up, and after a few months of Ethan pursuing, we became inseparable and got engaged 11 months later. It’s crazy how those invisible strings always seem to lead us back to our person when the time is right.
The proposal:
Ethan proposed at a place very special to us. When we dated in high school, he took me dove hunting as our first date at his grandparents’ ranch. He mentioned wanting to take pictures for Christmas cards, and hired a photographer. He proposed to me at the same place we had our first official date. It was so surreal and meaningful. Afterward, we went to my parents’ house, where Ethan’s family and my family had planned an engagement party for us. We felt so celebrated and loved. It was just such a special day.
Favorite detail:
Bride: The light-up marquee letters. We weren’t planning on having them until about a week before, but it turned out to be my favorite decoration of the day. During the reception, I remember looking over at them, reading “The Whites,” and thinking about how special it is to finally share a last name.
Groom: The live music. They played very well, as always.
Favorite moment:
Bride: Doing the Grand March to kick off the party. I was told that was the largest Grand March that guests had ever participated in. We had my Aunt Kerrie and Uncle James lead everyone to the song “I’ll Be There” by Johnny Bush, which was their wedding song.
Groom: Seeing Kayten for the first time walking down the aisle.
Funniest moment:
Bride: I have two! My husband and I had been practicing for our first dance for months. During the dance, the DJ faded out the song too early, but we still finished the dance… in silence, though. And the second was when we were going out to take sunset photos, I noticed I had spilled some of my blackberry margarita on my white wedding dress! Thankfully, the photographer was able to edit it out!
Groom: I got confused while saying our vows and didn’t realize it was my turn to speak. And one of the groomsmen dropped their gifted hat in the toilet right before the reception entrance.
If you could do one thing over:
Groom: Take time to try the queso from the queso fountain.
Advice for brides:
Bride: When shopping for wedding dresses, they will likely recommend ordering a size larger than you actually are. I understand why, but during wedding month, I lost weight, and my dress did not fit like a glove, even after alterations. Order the size you are comfortable with.
What you look forward to most:
Bride: Together we are such a great team. We have accomplished so much, and I am so excited to see all that we accomplish together throughout our lifetime.
Groom: Growing together throughout the different stages of our lives.
