Hello brides-to-be, mothers of the brides, wedding vendors, and anyone else I’m forgetting to mention! I’d like to re-introduce myself to you, since I will be the one writing for The One Bride Guide‘s blog for a little while. My name is Sara Martisek and I was The One’s most recent sales executive. If you’ve gotten your hands on a copy of our new October issue and read Monica’s message on the inside of the first page, you know that much restructuring has happened over the past couple of months. I am now working full time in the television media world, but continuing to freelance for McLeod Creative as much as possible.
My goal with this blog is to reach out to the brides and vendors of South Texas, sharing advice and important information about the wedding world that is relevant to YOU! Besides sharing some amazing DIY projects and imperative wedding planning information, I’m going to be asking you questions and posting the answers for all of our readers to see. What better way to learn what works and what doesn’t than to learn from each other, right? Being 23, many of my friends are engaged and getting married. I’m also engaged! Because of these circumstances, I look forward to sharing my own experiences, as well as other real South Texas brides’ and vendors’ experiences, with you.
Now, I’d like to ask you for a little help. If you have a specific wedding topic you’d like me to write about, please send me an e-mail at sara@theonebrideguide.com. Of course, I plan on talking about the season’s hottest color trends, DIY projects, wedding decor, wedding photography, popular flowers and arrangements, etc., but if you think of an important topic I’ve accidentally skipped over, let me know and I’ll make sure to cover it.
I’m really looking forward to writing for The One Bride Guide Blog! Thanks for reading!
Cheers,
Sara
October issue correction: We apologize to D&P Photography. The videographer for the Yzaguirre/Gianni wedding (page 14) was D&P Photography, not Big Box Pro. We are so sorry for the mistake. Please visit www.dpphoto.biz or call 361-739-2143 for more info on D&P Photography.

Rest assured, The One is stronger than ever and is growing. The staff at McLeod Creative spent a great deal of time getting our systems and processes streamlined and working like a well-oiled machine. With increasing costs of operations for the parent company, McLeod Creative, we decided to restructure the business, reduce our full-time staff and go back to basics now that those systems are set up. Monica Sawyer is still full-time, dividing her time between the home office and the downtown office. Monica will be handling all advertising. Sara Martisek and Bettie Billings are freelancing, helping with wedding fairs, deliveries and such (stop by our booth at The Engagement Party at the Ortiz Center this weekend to see Sara and Bettie). And Ashley Rippke is still designing the magazine. Dan Gaines found a new home at Texas A&M Kingsville. They are lucky to have him and we’ll miss him!
Please excuse our dust as we make this transition. Reducing costs for us will not affect the quality of the magazine or our future. In fact, we are still working on expanding. These changes mean our prices will not go up as our costs have inevitably gone up – good news for our loyal advertisers!!
We’d love to hear from you! If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to call me at 361-887-5054 or email me at info@theonebrideguide.com. Thanks for your support!
-Monica
