Really Really Cool Stuff We Found: Wedding Activity Book

This something cool came off of one of my favorite websites to do research on, Offbeat Bride, and can potentially be for wedding guests of all ages. In one of our Sticky Subject articles I briefly touched upon the issue of inviting children to your wedding. Some people do while others don’t, for whatever reasons pertaining to the idea set in mind for their wedding. But, if you do decide to invite children, you’re going to need to keep them occupied right? What better way than with a coloring book centered around the wedding, YOUR wedding, itself! Offbeat Bride featured this member-made coloring book with activities like Color-by-Number and People Bingo, all in connection with the Bride and Groom. Now the author of said article refers to herself as being a regular “zinester”, and I had honestly no idea what that was. After finally finding the definition of what a “zine”(pronounced zeen) is on none other than Urban Dictionary, I found out just how easy this project is. Basically a zinester is somebody who makes or produces cheaply created magazines, usually in black and white, in large quantities by photocopying and binding with staples. The most difficult part of creating your own little activity zine would be illustrating it. Without further adieu here are the mini-activity booklets that you could easily do yourself.

Cover and First page: People Bingo!

Pages 2 and 3: Scavenger Hunt and Maze

Pages 4 and 5: Mad Libs, Tongue Twisters, and Jokes

Pages 6 and 7: For our really little guests, Getting Ready to Read and

Color-by-Number

Pages 8 and 9: Crossword and Connect-the-Dot

Pages 10 and 11: Wedding Word Search and Hidden Pictures

The final pages have the answer keys to several of the games.

The back cover asks them to draw a picture and rip it out of the book to give to the wedding couple.

I highly recommend the Offbeat Bride website to all brides for a taste of originality and lots of phenomenal ideas. There are hundreds of DIY projects, untraditional wedding themes, and so much more featured in their articles everywhere you look. The activity book would no doubt be a hit for children. Perfect for keeping the kids busy and it takes the weight off of their parents from having to entertain them, allowing more fun to be had all around!
