Sweet Snippets: Lucky Days
With over 7,000 couples a day tying the knot in the United States alone, there is no way to have a unique day all to yourself. But some days are more popular than others, such as Valentines Day and New Years Eve; out of convenience or romance, we may never truly know. But besides those two fashionable days there are a few that sparked a race to the altar, much like today! Luck is in the air.
• Everyone knows that when the clock hits 11:11 you make a wish so today, 11/11/11 thousands and thousands of couples all around the globe will be making one great big wish for a long and loving marriage. Another infamous wedding day was July 7th, 2007 or 7/7/7 because of it’s “lucky” origin. Celebrities and civilians alike flocked to the altar in America and even France! I just can’t imagine why, but Las Vegas recorded an all time high in wedding ceremonies on July 7th, 2007; some couples even opted for casino themed receptions to keep their luck in the air.
• Another “double date” that everyone went nuts over was August 8th, 2008 (which happened to fall on a Friday, the “lucky” day to be wed) because in the Chinese culture eight is their lucky number, not seven.
• Some of you might remember the hype around Y2K, or December 31st, 1999 when all the computers were supposed to have a huge meltdown (which is laughable today, but seemed like a real horror then). To those who were married on that day it truly was a new beginning, not only millennium wise but to the rest of their lives as well.
Some people choose to get married on special days like a birthday, historical event, or any other significant day to the couple. Whether it’s a “lucky” day or the day you met, it should be romantic, for you and your husband. Make it the best day of your life!
