The biggest place we saved money was on catering! I originally got a quote from a caterer that was going to charge us about $8,000 for a BBQ meal for 125 guests (a lot of it was travel fees because they are in Denver, CO and my venue is about two hours away in the mountains). We found a local BBQ restaurant that is known for having wonderful food, and they quoted us less than half the amount the other caterer was going to charge! And it was essentially the same meal! So my advice is to get multiple quotes and also to book a restaurant that is local and doesn’t solely rely on catering income. It certainly saved us money!
